WordPress Yoast SEO is one of the best plugins for SEO optimizations; This plugin can do a lot of good SEO stuff on our site, and XML functionality is one of the advanced features of it. We can create XML sitemaps very easily with this plugin.
XML sitemaps are having two different kinds of types like XML and HTML. The XML sitemap is designed for search engines, and HTML sitemap is intended for humans. But XML is essential for search engines. So every website must have this thing for organic traffic.
How To Create A Sitemap In WordPress?
WordPress Yoast SEO plugin is one of the best SEO plugins which help us to create XML sitemaps easily. Follow all these steps to generate XML sitemaps and configure it with the advanced settings for search engines indexing.
The first step is we need to install WordPress Yoast SEO plugin on our site. Go to your WordPress Dashboard > Then go to Plugins Menu on Sidebar Menu > Click Add New plugin button > Find the plugin in WordPress plugins directory > Install & Activate it on our WordPress.
To enable XML sitemap functionality in WordPress. Go to > SEO menu in sidebar menu > open XML Sitemaps menu > to enable XML sitemap functionality button to enable this feature. Don’t forget to Save those changes.
In this stage, we are going to add a significant thing to our sitemaps. That was like pages, post and media files.
Go to > Post type tab in XML sitemaps menu.
Please select First Three Options which are shown above on image > and Save changes. Don’t select template options in the sitemap. Enable Template option can create lot errors in the sitemap. When we submit our sitemap to search console those errors can decrease the search engine indexability of our site.
Now we are going to add categories, tags, post format to our sitemap. You don’t know about categories, and tag then doesn’t enable this options. This optional functions can create duplicate contents on our site. If we have duplicate contents on our website, then search engine refuses to index those contents.
To enable this functionality Go to > Taxonomies tab in XML Sitemap menu and to allow all three options > and Save changes.
If we are done all these four steps, then our XML sitemap was ready to index by search engines. But we need to submit the XML sitemap to search engine to complete this process. All these steps make our sitemap to create specific links to every page, posts, media files.
